CODA@SING
OVER KING
Coda is a year-long comprehensive
part-time course designed for multi-skilled performers pursuing
broad-based careers as professionals in Theatre, Music theatre,
Cabaret, Contemporary Music, and Film/TV.
Coda is taught by industry professionals- Directors, Musical Directors,
Vocal Coaches and Professional Singers, Actors and Musicians-
with high levels of expertise in their fields. This course will
focus entirely on singing and acting and related subjects.
Co-Ordinators
In 2002, Linda Nagle and Darren Mapes joined forces to open Sing
Over King.
Both successful performers and vocal coaches, they have more than
30 years of professional experience between them. They have helped
many young performers achieve their goal to become working professionals.
Their clients have been cast in both Principle and Chorus roles
in The Lion King, Saturday Night Fever,
The Producers, South Pacific, Mamma Mia, We Will Rock You, Cats,
Oliver, Shout, Hair, Leader of the Pack, Get Happy, Hot Shoe Shuffle,
The Witches of Eastwick, Threepenny Opera, Fame, Footloose, Oh
What a Night and The Full Monty. Sing Over King is also
proud of it's successful recording artists, band singers and television
personalities (Pop Stars, Australian
Idol, Girl TV, Secret Life of Us).
Course Content
Students attend a total of 10 hours per week:
Monday 10.00am- 4.00pm
Tuesday 10.00am- 4.00pm
The course is divided equally between
Singing and Acting studies and related topics. Some extra rehearsal
time may be required in the final term for the end of the year
showcase.
• Singing- Harmony and Ear Training, Interpretation,
Audition Techniques, Repertoire and Style in Pop, Jazz, Music
Theatre and Cabaret.
• Acting- Technique,
Script Work, Cold Reads, Character, Voice and Dialect, Stagecraft,
Camera, Casting and Audition.
• Associated Studies-
Music Theory and Application (incorporating sight singing), Microphone
technique, Performance, Presentation, Music Theatre History, Self
Devised Work, Session Singing and Studio Technique, Singing for
Television.
Teachers & Guest Tutors
All Coda staff are industry working professionals- the best in
the business. Together with directors Linda Nagle and Darren Mapes,
tutors and guest tutors are drawn from a pool
of acclaimed artists including: Valerie Bader, Rhonda Burchmore,
Maggie Dence, Paul Goddard, Julian Gough, Deborah Kennedy, Max
Lambert, Lorna Lesley, Geraldine Turner, Beverley Kennedy, Lex
Marinos, Jack Webster and Bill Young

Course
Entry
Coda course entry is by audition and application only. There is
a maximum of 10 places per class. Preference is given to those
students with competent dance skills, however this is not a pre-requisite.

Audition
Applicants will be required to prepare
two songs with sheet music in the correct key:
• One Pop Song
• One Music Theatre Song
A short script will be provided prior to the audition and you
may be asked to do a cold read or short improvisation on the day.
You will be judged on vocal ability and potential, acting skills,
aptitude, and attitude. Students need to be able to show a commitment
to completing
the course.
Audition times are flexible; an audition
fee of $22.00 (gst inc.) applies

Fee Structure
• All fees must be paid in advance.
• There are no refunds for any reason. A $500 discount applies
if you pay the whole year in advance.
Term 1 $2000.00
Term 2 $1500.00
Term 3 $1500.00
Term 4 $1000.00
TOTAL $6000.00
Term 1 includes a non-refundable $500 deposit.
